Trust In Car Check · Trust In Motors
Advert Rules
These rules apply to adverts on Trust In Motors, the UK used-car marketplace from Trust In Car Check. Private and trade sellers must follow them.
What you can advertise
- Cars located in the UK that you own or are authorised to sell.
- One vehicle per advert, available to buy now.
Your advert must
- Describe the vehicle honestly, including its condition, mileage and any known faults or damage.
- Show a genuine asking price in pounds.
- Use your own photos of the actual vehicle.
- Disclose any known recorded write-off status or outstanding finance. Do not offer a vehicle for sale if finance or another person’s rights prevent you from selling it lawfully.
- Say whether you are a private or trade seller.
- Check any details filled by a registration lookup and correct anything inaccurate. A lookup does not verify the advert or inspect the car.
- Keep availability and details up to date, and remove the advert when the car is sold or no longer available.
Not allowed
- Stolen vehicles, or vehicles you have no right to sell.
- False, misleading or copied information or photos.
- Clocked or misrepresented mileage.
- Scams, deceptive payment requests or pressure to send money before a buyer has checked the vehicle and your authority to sell it.
- Offensive, discriminatory or unlawful content.
- Phone numbers, emails or links placed in the description or photos.
- Duplicate adverts, or adverts for non-vehicle goods or services.
Photos and private information
You can upload up to eight photos, each no larger than 5 MB. Use photos you have permission to publish and that accurately show the vehicle.
Published descriptions and photos are public. Do not include full addresses, contact details, personal documents or other people’s private information. Check for visible registration plates or identifying details before uploading: keeping the registration field private does not hide a plate visible in a photo.
Use the form’s private contact fields rather than putting contact information in your advert. Buyers can contact you through the advert’s enquiry form.
Our right to remove adverts
We reserve the right to hide or remove adverts that break these rules or our Terms of Use, appear unlawful, misleading or unsuitable, or pose a risk to users. We may act without advance notice where appropriate and restrict repeated misuse.
Submitting an advert makes it publicly available; it does not mean Trust In Motors has checked or endorsed the vehicle or seller. Reports may be reviewed, but a report alone does not prove that an advert breaks the rules.
Reporting an advert
